COVID-19 Regulations sign at a high school near my home.

This COVID-19 poster is inside a high school near my house. Essentially, it tells all visitors of the high school to stay at home and not enter the building if they have any symptoms of the virus: cough, fever/chills, runny/stuffy nose, sore throat, and so on.

I believe that this poster is effective in the sense that it prevents visitors who already have noticeable symptoms from entering the building.

However, I believe that it is also ineffective because it is easy for people to disregard their symptoms by underestimating the severities of their illnesses.

For instance, a student may have a sore throat one morning and still decide to physically come to school due to underestimating their ailment.

Personally, I believe that schools should not be open to students during this pandemic because of possibilities such as these. However, since this is not the case and some schools still remain open, I believe that there should be more safety-precautions set in place rather than just public health signs.

For example, I believe that there should be individuals at all schools who stand in front of the entrances and take visitors’ temperatures or ask them questions before being able to enter these facilities.
